BRICK HOUSE Empty BRICK HOUSE

CAN ANYBODY TELL ME THE HISTORY OF BRICK HOUSE, 50 WASH LANE. WE LIVED THEIR DURING THE 50S AND WHERE TOLD THAT IT WAS ONCE A FARM HOUSE BUT LOOKING AT THE 1841 TOWN PLAN IT IS THERE IN A SIMILAR SHAPE TOGETHER WITH THE MILL, BRICK HOUSE MILL. THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PUZZLE, COULD IT HAVE BEEN THE FIRST BRICK HOUSE IN BURY?

BRICK HOUSE Empty BRICK HOUSE

I have found in the text of "Bygone Bury" reprinted in a series of articles in the Bury Times on page 18 a reference to the history of Brickhouse.
"George Openshaw began the manufacture of woollen cloth at Brickhouse, sometime previously to the year 1818; we find in the Lancashire General Directory for 1818 that he was then at Brickhouse. Probably in anticipation of contemplated change, he built the house of bricks , hence the place-name."
This puts the house and mill at over 200 years old. The house is now occupied by the Ace Hand Car Wash but the structure seems to be the same as the outline on the 1849 map. Could this be the oldest brick structure still standing in Bury?
