Townsyard Fernhill Empty Townsyard Fernhill

Post  Noisybrook Mon Dec 14, 2009 4:41 pm

Hi,

My grandmother's grandparents, George & Dorothy Birks, lived at Townsyard, Fernhill (no idea of the street name).
George Birks was the superintendant for the Bury Cleansing Department and a municipal horse keeper.
Does anyone know where Townsyard is/was? I think the whole street may have been demolished.

Thanks

Neil

Townsyard Fernhill Empty Town's Yard, Fernhill

Hello.

The Bury Town's Yard used to be on Every Street, in the Fernhill district of Bury, to the west of Walmersley Road. As far as I know it is still there in that district.

Towns Yard is the next street up from where you go to Dump your Rubbish at the top of Every Street, and I beleve the house that is just through the gate on the right, used to be the superintendets house I think its now used as an Office.
Would!nt stake my life on it but thats what I was led to understand.
