Subject: Irwell School circa 1780?

Hello,
I have begun investigating my ancestors from Bury. My great grandparents (X3)were William King b. ca 1786 %26 Sarah Crompton b. 1783. William was a shoemaker %26 the family shows up in the 1841 census. I was told by an elderly relative who once had access to a Crompton family bible (I alas do not)%26 in it was a note that William's mother, Harriet had been a teacher at Irwell School. I don't know her maiden name, sorry. Would anyone have ideas on how I could find out more on the family, given that I am on the other side of the world? I looked on IGI %26 there certainly were a lot of Cromptons in those days. My bunch seemed to frequent St Johns Church. Thanks, Rosalie
